Effect of Treating Methods of NAA and IBA on Rooting of Gypsophila paniculata by Cuttings

Abstract
Cutting experiments were conducted to determine the effect of concentrations and treatment methods of NAA and IBA, number of leaves of cuttings, and rooting media on the rooting and root growth of cuttings of greenhouse-grown Gypsophila paniculata L. obtained from in vitro shoot tip culture.
Cuttings treated with 0.3% IBA by powder method were attained 86.7% of rooting. But the results were reversed by soaking method: 86% of cuttings formed roots for 3 hours treatment with 20-50ppm NAA when perlite was used as rooting media. In dipping method, above 90% of cuttings formed roots by treating at concentration of 2,000-3,000ppm IBA or 500-1,000ppm NAA for 1 minute.
Rootimg percent of cuttings increased from 3.0% to 80.5% by increasing the number of leaves attached to cuttings from 4 to 10. Rooting of cuttings sprayed with antitranspirant without regard to concentration was decreased when compared with control. Perlite is the most suitable rooting medium for the rooting of cuttings.
